How to Use

ChessForm analyzes your games from their PGN — the plain-text format every chess site can export. Grab a PGN from wherever you play, paste it into the Coach page, and you'll get a coach-style breakdown instead of a wall of numbers. Here's how to get one from the three most common places.

Chess.com From a Chess.com game
  1. Open the finished game and enter its Analysis view (the Analysis tab under the board).
  2. Click the Share icon at the bottom of the analysis panel.
  3. In the pop-up, choose the PGN tab. Tick the clock icon if you want move times included.
  4. Click Download to save the file — or select the PGN text and copy it.
  5. Paste it into the Coach page (or open the downloaded .pgn file, then copy its contents).

Several games at once: open Game History, tick the box beside each game (or the top box to select a whole page), and use Download. The Coach page takes up to 10 games as a batch; for larger sets use Import history.

Lichess From a Lichess game
  1. Open the game and switch to the Analysis board.
  2. Below the board, open the Share & export tab (older layouts label it FEN & PGN).
  3. Click Download raw to get the plain game, or use the clipboard icon to copy the PGN directly. (Download annotated also works — it just adds Lichess's own move annotations.)
  4. Paste it into the Coach page.

All your games at once: on your Lichess profile, use the Export games icon (top-right). A quick shortcut for a single game is adding .pgn to its URL, e.g. lichess.org/<gameId>.pgn.

Elsewhere From another app or a PGN file
  1. PGN is a universal format, so a game exported from desktop software (ChessBase, SCID, a board editor) or another site works the same way.
  2. In that program, use its Copy PGN / Export to PGN option, or open the .pgn file in any text editor.
  3. Copy the whole thing — the bracketed header lines and the moves — and paste it into the Coach page.

A valid PGN starts with tag lines like [White "..."] and [Result "1-0"], followed by the moves (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 ...). Keeping those header lines matters: ChessForm reads them to detect your color, the result, and your rating. Bare moves still analyze, but with less context.

Then analyze it in ChessForm
  1. On the Coach page, paste your PGN into the box.
  2. Enter your username so your color, rating, and result are picked up automatically (or set the color manually as a fallback).
  3. Pick a depth — Quick for an instant read, Standard or Deep to run the Stockfish engine first.
  4. Press Analyze game. Each analysis saves to your history, and once you've built up a few games, Big Picture and Habits unlock cross-game patterns.
